Haley, 14, is the 2015 Junior Fiddler of Dooney and the 2013 All Ireland Champion winning in both under 12 solo fiddle and under 12 fiddle slow airs.
Haley started Suzuki violin lessons at the Friends School in Mullica Hill NJ at 3 years old after asking to learn to play violin at 2.5 years old. Her talent and love of playing was quickly recognized and at four she began studying with Gerry Rice of Haddonfield NJ.
Before her 5th birthday Haley fell in love with Irish music, while attending a concert by fiddler Kevin Burke accompanied by Cal Scott. She began teaching herself fiddle tunes from Kevin's How to Play Celtic Fiddle DVD and by listening to his CD. Formal study of Irish fiddle began with Kathy DeAngelo of Voorhees, NJ in August of 2007. In July 2009, after winning her first MidAtlantic under 12 Irish fiddle competition at six years old, she met fiddling great Brian Conway who became her teacher a couple months later. By April 2014, Haley was a 6X MidAtlantic Region under 12 Irish fiddle champion. She won the MidAtlantic Fleadh Under 15 solo fiddle championship in May 2015 and again in June 2016 bringing the number of MidAtlantic Championship to eight consecutive championships. She has placed numerous times in the All Ireland competition in both solo fiddle, fiddle slow airs, and in trio competitions.
Haley has performed with many of the most well-known names in Irish music today including The Chieftains, Altan, Dervish, Pride of New York, Liz Carroll with Cherish the Ladies, and is a regular member of The John Whelan Band. She and Dylan also play in a trio with uilleann piper, Keegan Loesel, called Méara Meara (Lively Fingers). She has also participated in the Studio2Stage Irish dance production, That's Dancing, in both 2014, 2015, with 2016 coming soon.
Dylan, 18, began traditional guitar lessons at 6 years old. In May 2008 he decided he wanted to accompany Haley for a local talent show so he learned how to back a couple tunes and has been loving Irish music ever since.
A multi-instrumentalist on guitar, banjo, and Irish bouzouki, Dylan's influences include John Doyle, Eamon O'Leary, and Zac Leger. He is self taught on banjo and bouzouki. Dylan enjoys composing tunes and recently found an interest in sound engineering. He has recorded an audiobook project for Pageant Wagon Publishing and a demo CD for the band Poor Man's Gambit, in which he is a new member. In addition to performing with Haley, Dylan is also a member of two trios, Poor Man's Gambit and Méara Meara. He has also accompanied for The John Whelan Band and participated in the 2015 Studio2Stage Irish dance production, That's Dancing.
Dylan has placed 1st in the Maryland State Fleadh Under 13 guitar accompaniment competition and also qualified and competed successfully in the All Ireland competition.
